Fort Dodge Community Supports Local Business Owners Hit by Act of Arson

The owners of a Fort Dodge business are thankful for the help of family, friends and the community after someone broke in and intentionally set fire to their store.

Dreyzon Phillips and Taj Lowery are the owners of fear to dream and just like that kicks at 1222 Central Avenue. Lowery says on Thursday morning he was notified that the business was on fire. Video that has since been posted on social media shows a subject with a hand torch setting fire to apparel items inside the store.

Getting renters hazard insurance was one a thing they still needed to do and because they did not have it, the cost of damages to the interior work they had put in and the supplies is their own loss.

That act of arson didn’t burn everything, but did cause enough smoke and water damage to set the pair back. A lesson they say they are taking with them when they reopen the store.

Luckily, many friends, family and folks around the community have been helping them by cleaning the business, covering the shattered front window with plywood and by donating to a GoFundme account to help them get back to business quickly.

A link is posted below and anyone who has information as to who intentionally started the fire is urged to contact the Fort Dodge Police Department at 573-1444.
