Active Shooter Drills Scheduled for Wednesday Districtwide in Fort Dodge
The shooting at Columbine High School in 1999 happened before any of the current students in the Fort Dodge Community School District were born.
The sad truth is, that tragedy was not the last of its kind and over the past 24 years parents, law enforcement and communities have struggled with how to better prepare for a worst case situation.
In an effort to do just that, active shooter drills are being conducted throughout the district today in Fort Dodge.
Last month the Fort Dodge Community School District held an open meeting to discuss what the drills would look like and how to better prepare students for them.
Parents of children in the district received an email Monday night in regards to what the age appropriate drills would look like along with tips and a link to the safety session that was held.
