Burn Ban Goes Into Effect in Webster County After Multiple Fire Calls Tuesday

A burn ban is now in effect in Webster County after nearly every fire department in the county was called out Tuesday to respond to fire calls.

The burn ban went into effect at 11am and will last until conditions improve.

Webster County Emergency Management Agency Director Dylan Hagen tells Alpha Media that

Area crews were plagued by fire calls yesterday as dry conditions and winds increased.

On Tuesday Otho and Moorland fire departments responded to a fire that was started on Monday and was almost out when the winds picked up Tuesday and spread the embers to the dry grass. That fire spread very quickly.

Clare, Barnum, Badger, Moorland and Fort Dodge Fire Departments all responded to a field fire near Valero that caused a brief shutdown of Highway 7 as it jumped over the road.

And Gowrie, Harcourt and Farnhamville were called to a couple fires as well.
