Death Investigation Is Underway in Fort Dodge Following Sunday Night Fatal Shooting

An investigation is underway in Fort Dodge following a fatal shooting Sunday night on the city’s northwest side.

A release from the Fort Dodge Police Department states that at approximately 8:42 P.M. the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call of someone being shot in the 200 Blk. 3rd Ave. N.W.

Multiple officers with the Fort Dodge Police Department responded.

When officers arrived on scene, they located one unresponsive male with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers began life-saving efforts on the male, until medics with the Fort Dodge Fire Department arrived. The male was ultimately pronounced deceased on scene. The deceased males name will not be released at this time until we are certain all next of kin have been properly notified.
At this time investigators are working to determine exactly what took place this evening, to include exploring all avenues as to how this incident unfolded. Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to contact the Fort Dodge Police. Information may also be submitted anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
The Fort Dodge Police Department was assisted by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the Fort Dodge Fire Department, and the Webster County Attorney’s Office.
