Disaster Drill Planned for Tuesday at Fort Dodge Airport

A full scale disaster drill is planned for next week at the Fort Dodge Regional Airport.

According to a release from the FD Regional Airport the drill will be held on Tuesday morning and is as close to the real thing as possible with the goal of testing and improving airport emergency preparedness skills.

This exercise is intended to allow airport personnel, hospital, fire, law enforcement, area volunteer fire/rescue departments and emergency preparedness offices the opportunity to train together for a real aircraft emergency.

According to Director of Aviation at the airport, Rhonda Chambers, “Even though this is an airport disaster drill, this type of exercise tests the emergency preparedness systems that would be activated and used in all types of disasters.”

This will be the eleventh full- scale disaster drill conducted at the Fort Dodge Regional Airport since 1992.
