You’ve probably noticed the little blue containers at restaurants and banks that have candy in them asking for donations, but did you know where that donated money goes?

According to Nancy Leo, longtime member of the Fort Dodge Civitan Club, those little candy containers help provide most of the money needed for many of the projects the group does with people receiving services through LifeWorks and One Vision.

Two of the biggest events the 31 members of the Fort Dodge Civitan are involved in are two dances coordinated with Lifeworks and One Vision, including the spring prom coming up on May 19th.

This month is Civitan Awareness Month and Leo has been a member of the group since 1982, her husband since 1979.

She says a lot has changed over the years, but the passion of its members and core mission has not.

For details on how you can join Civitan or contribute to the many community service projects they are involved in you can reach President Dani Rogers at 515 571 1100 or check out their meeting times and locations on Facebook.
