An inmate being housed at the Humboldt County Jail hurt a jailer and escaped custody for a short time  Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Humboldt County Sherriff’s Office, Lennox Kylan Marino VanVacter of Duncombe escaped for about a half hour when being transferred into his cell from the exercise area.
Reports state he overpowered a jailer and grabbed her key fob. He then ran over to a locked door and unlocked it with the key fob and escaped.
He was located in a garage at 106 4th St. South.
He was being held for Webster County in the Humboldt County Jail on the charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, interference with official acts and eluding over 25 miles over the speed limit.
