Salty Suz Opens for Business in Downtown Fort Dodge

A new business that offers an escape from the everyday, has opened in downtown Fort Dodge.

Salty Suz opened its doors last week at 512 Central Avenue. The location was home to Crickets Lounge and recently sold to BCJ Enterprises LLC.

According to Co-Owner, Jacci Hindt, the business was a dream between herself, Brandon Clabaugh and Clare Clabaugh. “Salty Suz’s was originally a shared dream between myself, Brandon and Clare,” she said. “It ended up becoming a legacy when Clare passed in 2021.”

The new business offers what she describes as bougie food and drinks and a vacation type atmosphere.

“The atmosphere really is meant to be the feeling that you’re escaping Fort Dodge,” she said. “So we really set it up to be very similar to a California style resort bar.”

She says the business employs about 12 people and is open 7 days a week.

She adds, a lot has changed at the location but they will be bringing back karaoke.
