(Alpha Media – Brooke Bickford) A New Jersey company that has been fielding dispatch calls for Webster County may be getting the axe soon. The Webster County Telecommunications Board has been in talks with local law and fire officials about having the Sheriff’s Department take charge of revamping dispatch. Part of that includes voiding the current contract with IXP of New Jersey.

According to details from the board’s meeting, this would bring control of the system back to the local level, something officials agree would serve the citizens of Webster County better.

On December 21st a vote by the board to end the contract with IXP was held with all intendance voting in favor of the decision.

The next step is figuring out where funding will come from if the contract with IXP is broken.
