The results of the recent broadband survey and future possibilities of improved broadband connectivity were the main points of focus during the Fort Dodge City Council meeting Monday night. Curtis Dean the president of SmartSource Consulting laid out the results of the recent survey. Those results showed a large portion of Fort Dodge resident were unhappy with the current internet service and that nearly 67 percent would be likely to switch to a new network. He went on to say that the majority of people who participated in the survey said they experience slow downs with their current service at least once per week. The city council voted for a referendum on whether a municipal broadband utility should be established that referendum is to be held November 5th in conjunction with the city council election . Curtis Dean during his presentation went on to talk about future improvements that a municipal broadband network , his comments are below.
