After 2 Days of the process of selecting jurors in the double murder trial of 28 year old Fort Dodge resident Tanner King the judge has ruled to change the venue of the trial. Judge Kurt Stoebe stated it would be highly unlikely that the court would be able to find an impartial jury here in Webster County. The trial has been moved to Stroy County and will start with the jury selection process there on November 12th. The judge said that even before the jury was set there was jury tampering. 2 potential jurors reported being confronted by outside parties who had knowledge of them being considered for the jury. The reports of those confrontations and the details of them were not made public. The court said it lost half the jury pool by the end of yesterday due to various causes that disqualified them. Also, there were concerns about potential jurors in Webster County having knowledge of King’s criminal history. The prior history would be inadmissible in this case but could possibly shape the view of the jury. Judge Stoebe went on talk about the prior knowledge of those acts being outlined in the past in the media, and they were rehashed and heard on the radio in coverage of the trial during the process of jury selection. That prompted his concerns of the partiality of potential jurors, Prior to the change in venue it was estimated the trial would take 2 or 3 weeks, now the trial will move to Story County and begin about 2 weeks prior to Thanksgiving. King is facing charges in the October 2018 killings of Fort Dodge brothers Marion and El Dominc Rhodes.
