High school football enters week 4 under the lights Friday night and sets up to the biggest week of the season thus far for area teams. Here’s why starting with The “Central Iowa Area Showcase Game ” on “Mix” 94.5 tonight Clarion-Goldfield- Dows hosts Hampton-Dumont-Cal for a 6:45 PM pregame and 7 PM kick. Not only is it the debut in the showcase game for the Clarion squad but it’s also a home game. It’s a big game because they are 1-2 with Southeast Valley coming in for  week 5 and a trip to Algona in week 6. Both those are ranked opponents for Clarion- Goldfield- Dows to stay on pace to have a winning season they need this one tonight. Join Dan Johnson as he calls the action of that one.

105.9 “The Beach” has a major clash on the way tonight as South Central Calhoun is at Southeast Valley. Southeast Valley is unbeaten and ranked 8th in the state in class 2A. South Central Calhoun is also unbeaten they are ranked 6th in class 1A. The Titans have steamrolled their 1st 3 opponents by a combined score of 105 to 6. With a win tonight one of these teams will likely make a move up the rankings. Join Mark Williamson and Brian Peters on the call for a 6:45 PM pregame and a 7 PM kick. Here’s Titans Coach Bryan Case talking about the challenges the Southeast Valley defensive line poses.

On 92.1 a 7:15 PM pregame and 7:30 Pm kick has Fort Dodge on the road taking on Carroll. The Dodgers come in 3-0 on the season and ranked 8th in Iowa 4A. The Dodgers are coming off being pushed to the limit by Indianola in week 3 a game Fort Dodge won in OT 28-21. Tonight’s game for Fort Dodge is huge because they need this win not only to remain ranked in the top 10 but also to stay on pace for playoff positioning. As their next 3 opponents after tonight are Southeast Polk at home , Roosevelt at Drake University and a road trip to Ankeny Centennial. The combined record right now of those 3 teams is 8-1 and two of those teams are ranked in the top 6 in Iowa 4A currently ( Ankeny Centennial is #3 , Southeast Polk  is #6 and Roosevelt is right outside the top 10 currently and may be in the top 10 next week with a win tonight). Dodger Coach Matt Miller says the message this week to his team has been about focus. Join Rob Jones on the call tonight for a 7:30 PM kickoff.

“Sunny”  99.7 has St. Edmond hosting Bishop Garrigan for a 6:45 PM pregame and 7 PM kick. The Gaels are 2-1, having won their last 2 straight and coming off a week 3 win over Eagle Grove 40 to 8. Bishop Garrigan is a traditional power in class A. Gaels Coach Matt Dillon said that Garrigan is very likely the best team on his team’s schedule this year.

That’s a look at the games on the Alpha Media Fort Dodge family of channels. It is obvious when you examine this week’s games that week 4 shapes up to be the biggest and most defining week of the season thus far.
